TECHNICAL  Solutions of minilab : kis dks 15xx – 24 pixels lines problem on the prints 

SUMMARY:

24 pixels lines & DRIVER EPSON PCB Application   :

Immediately  : DKS running V4

Problem:

There are 24 pixels lines problem on the prints as shown below even if the LCD  extinction kit has been installed :

Cause :

The natural ionisation of the LCD is  not properly compensated by the LCD  adjustment, and the LCD extinction kit is not optimised.

Solution :

To increase the LCD power supply and optimised the LCD extinction.

1)  To optimise the LCD extinction, you must upgrade the machine software to the  version D4.1.12 Lx P2

IMPORTANT :  you must upgrade all your  machine to the software  version D4.1.12 Lx P2 as soon as you can.

2)  To increase the LCD power supply, you must modified the  EPSON DRIVER PCB

IMPORTANT :  this hardware modification is to apply  ONLY  when the  lines are present. If you try to modify  the PCB although the LCD does not  have problem, you will then damage it.

MACHINE: DKS 1510 YES NO  – 1530 YES NO  – 1550 YES NO Requirements :

–  The machine must run under the Version 4 software –  The machine must be equipped with the LCD extinction KIT

1) SOFTWARE  :

The latest software version to load on the machine is the D4.1.12 Lx P2.

This is a patch that you have to install on the software version D4.1.10 LxB P2  (running on the Master OS 3.12). If your machine is running under a pevious version  than the D4.1.10, please upgrade the machine to  D4.1.10 before to install this patch.  This patch is available under our ftp site in the” iso_image”  directory :

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :  this software version will  switch OFF the LCD power  supply from the exposure lamp signal. Thus, you have to upgrade all your  machine as soon as you can.

 

Remark : If your machine is equipped with a Xilink sequencer board,

please modify  the parameter “Minutes” under [DELAI_SWITCH_OFF]   in  the EPSON.INI  file :  soft notpad++

2) HARDWARE :    “REMINDER : USE ANTISTATIC BRACELET” The hardware modification to make is to  add a resistor on t he EPSON DRIVER PCB.  By soldering a resistor of 1,3 K Ohms 1% 250mW  on the regulator of the Epson  board between pin 3  and  pin 5  as shown on attached pict ure, It will increase the  voltage on the LCD.

It may be necessary to perform a FLICKER  adjustment  and a single  PRNU adjustment (parameter “pixel size” set to 9).

IMPORTANT 1 : this is the only resistor to use, DO  NOT USE a 1,3 K Ohms resistor with a different  tolerance.

IMPORTANT 2 : should  not be sold on the “gold “  ground but on the  component pin.

* Remark :  you do not need to put a jumper. T he jumper is from the factory  modification to be able to modify the voltage quickly in the futur if necessary.

INFORMATION :  after you made this  modification, the voltage on the Test Point will  be 17.5V.  by defaut 19.5v 

To conclude, this modification is faster and easier than to replace the complete  piezo plate sub-assembly. As you keep your LCD, it is not necessary to wait for the  replacement one, and you will not need to perform a complete PRNU, X4/X9  adjusment or focus adjustment.
